30 days of Creativity Day 1

Here is my creation for my first day of Creativity. It is a Gatefold card, and I used this tutorial. It was super easy and I like the results.

The paper is all from my scrap box, and the stamp is from MFT's Pure Innocence line. I really love those stamps. Colored with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil - a technique I am still not all that comfortable with, but on the whole, I am happy with it :) I also used a scallop edge punch from Stampin Up - it is hard to see, but the card is edged with a red scallop strip on both sides of the opening. Sorry, I should have taken a picture of it...

The challenges I am submitting this for:
Just Scraps - back to school
Pile It On - layers
The Pink Elephant - back to school
Creative Card Crew - back to school
Charisma Cardz Challenges - try something new (gatefold card)
Project Tuesday - gatefold card
Alphabet Challenge - s is for scallops
...wee Memories - babies or children
Meljens Designs - back to school

30 Days of Creativity Challenge...

I have decided to join Kendra and Michelle in their 30 Days of Creativity Challenge. I hope it will help me post my creations a little more regularly, and encourage me to get into my scrap room a little more often - or at least as often as my work schedule allows :) I am creating something right now on my Gypsy, while watching Mulan with my daughter, hopefully I will get into my scrap room later to cut it out. Back later today with my first creation, and some fun news.

Better late than never...

So I was planning to post this this morning, but ran out of time. Here is my submission for this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge . The challenge was to make a fall card without using the colors brown, orange or yellow - now tell me that is not a challenge!! Pretty much everything I associate with fall involves those colors! Here is what I came up with:

The tree and grass are from Paper Doll Dress Up, the owl - which I welded with my Gypsy - is from Animal Kingdom. The leaf is from Disney's Mickey and Friends and the grass is from Every Day Paper Dolls. The paper is all Stampin Up, as is the ink I used for the stamped sky. I have never done that technique before, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out :)

My husband took one look at this card, and said what's with the spooky Halloween card? I disagree with him. I wanted this to look like a lovely fall night, with a full moon, and leaves falling, and an owl... somehow an owl means fall to me!

I hope you all come play along with us this week over at Cricut Cardz! It's lots of fun. I will be back tomorrow with some exciting news!! Hope you all have a great night!

On the run...

I survived Earl, with only 6 hours without power, but between school starting for my son work and the general chaos of life the past week has been insane! I have been a very bad blogger :(

I had every intention of posting my card I made for the Cricut Cardz Challnge design team this morning, but my shift got switched to a day, and here I sit at the computer at 5:30 am, needing to leave in 20 minutes, and realizing that the card I made is on my laptop, which is upstairs, and I just don't have time :( Sorry, I will post it tonight, but until then, you can see it at Cricut Cardz Challenges. I encourage you to go and play along, I found the challnege to be a tricky one for me! I will be back tonight to post my card after work.

Preparing for Earl...

Not really a crafty post, but I'm posting it anyway. We are in the path of Hurricane Earl, the outer bands have started hitting Nova Scotia, and the power has flickered a number of times. The last time we got a direct hit, we were without power for 5 days. We are hopeful he will miss us, but every time we listen to a weather report, the eye is coming closer and closer to Halifax.

Like a good Design Team member, I made my card for Cricut Cutz challenges yesterday and emailed it off to Mary just in case, and my Gypsy is all charged up, so I can at least do some crafting if the power is out.

If we have power tomorrow, I will be back with a post and a new card, but for now, the computer is being turned off. Hope you all have a safe and dry weekend :)

Mooo...

Today's card is quick and simple. I cut her out on my Gypsy at 3.9 inches, so it would fit in an A2 envelope. I made it for my daughter, who wanted me to cut her the cow on Create a Critter. We all love that cartridge :)

The paper is a mix of Walmart stuff and StampinUp. I used Lots of Pun stamp by Joy's Life, Memento Ink, stickles to bling up her horns and the pink bow, StampinUp ribbon.

Challenges I am submitting this for:
Made by Momo - black, white and on other color - I chose pink
Paper Playtime - at the farm
Pollycraft Monday - nature

Halifax is currently melting in a heat wave, and Hurricane Earl is following quick behind - we are going to be battoning down the hatches. Hope everyone in his path stays safe this week :)

Fairy princess

This card was partly designed by my 4 year old. She gave me color suggestions, purple is her favorite color, followed closely by pink and chose the fairy. She loves Once Upon a Princess and often asks me to cut things from it. This is the card I came up with, following her guidelines:

The fairy and flowers are from Once Upon a Princess, the stamp is from MFT's Pure Innocence line, and the paper is all StampinUp. Sorry about the picture quality, I was having issues with light when I took it. The dress, hat and wings are all purple, and they look sort of blue/grey in this pic.

Challenges I am submitting this card for:
Pixie Dust - stitching
Flutterby Wednesday - anything goes
CES Challenges - anything goes
Craft Your Days Away - with wings
Magical Monday - flowers
Aly's Sunday Challenge - pretty in pink
Mark's Finest Paper - friendship card
One Stitch at a Time - girl card and color scheme

Hope you all have a great day, I'll be back with another card in the next day or two.
