Throwback Thursday...

So I have had the past 4 days off work, and got a bit of crafting done, that I am finally getting around to posting. I participated in 3 challenges on the web this week. This is the 1st one. Emma, of My creative time, challenged us to use Zoobaloo, or another of the older cartridges to make an animal project. Here is what I came up with:

we always seem to need gift card holders at our house. We tend to give gift cards often for birthdays. My son is at the age where he loves to have his own money to spend places, so gift cards from Chapters, or the movies make great gifts for him! he often chooses gift cards as gifts for his friends.

The holder is cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More at 8 inches. I then cut the monkey and it's silhouette from Zoobaloo at 2.5 inches. In retrospect, I might have cut the monkey a little bigger - maybe 3 inches... oh well, next time :)

The stamps are both from My Pink Stamper, and the paper is a mix of Stampin Up, CM (printed paper) and something from my LSS. The ribbon on the to is from CTMH. On the whole, I was pretty happy with how this turned out. Thanks for looking,

A little late...

I am a few days late posting my last 2 pictures. We went away to our cottage for Canada Day and I ran out of time before we left. We had a great time with wondeful weather! DH and the kids are still away. I had to come home to go to work tomorrow :(

Anyway, the cute little teddy bear card is the final of the 5 I made for the card set for Andrew's teachers. I love this little guy! a few of the other cards I made were a bit girlie, so I wanted to make a card that was more boy, or at leat gender neutral.

The bear is from CAC, as are the baloons and the sentiment. I drew in the balloon lines with a black pen. The paper is all from Stampin Up.

The thankyou card uses all Stampin Up stuff. The stamp is Seasons of Freindship - which is one of the favorites! I am pretty certain it is still available from them. I discovered, while making this card, that one of my old CM punches matches perfectly with this stamp set. I was able to punch out and pop dot each flower with ease! Love it!

Somehow I managed to flip the pictures around in this blog post, and i couldn't figure out how to fix it... sorry.

Next 2 cards...

So these are the next 2 cards I made for Andrew's teachers. They use Create a Critter again, and I am pleased with how cute they are!

The shape card was inspired by Emma (My Creative Time with Emma) who taught me how to flip and weld images with her amazing videos. I just love how the little guy turned out - inside, he says "Dinomite"! The skunk card was CASE'd almost completely from Robyn, My Pink Stamper. I stickled her and gave her pretty cheeks. Isn't she adorable? The paper is all Stampin Up - I think...

Tomorrow I will post the last card, and show the thankyou card I made too.

2 cards...

So, as you know, I made 4 sets of cards for people at Andrew's school - teacher, vice-principal etc. I showed the box I made (with help from Momo) a couple of days ago. Today I am showing 2 of the 5 cards I put in the set.

Both of the main pictures are from create a critter. The wormy was heavily inspired by a really cute card Robyn (My Pink Stamper) made a few months ago. The pink poodle card was inspired by Emma (from Creative Time with Emma). She used the same shape under to poodle for one of her cards a while back. The shape is from Once Upon a Princess, and the shape was manipulated with my Gypsy. Andrew is in French Immersion, so I figured "merci" was an appropriate sentiment :) All the card stock is stampin up and the little pearls are Close to my Heart. I think they are super cute!

Today is my 13th wedding anniversary, so DH and I are getting pizza from our favorite spot, and enjoying a quiet evening, well once we get the kids in bed at least. Right now I am watching Beauty and the Beast with my 4 year old. Romance is alive and well ;)

Present for Mme

Andrew's school year finishes on Tuesday, and I made a special gift for his teacher. It is very similar to the one I made for his teacher last year. I love how it turned out. I think the pesonalized frames make the greatest gifts!!

I used a number of cartridges to bring this about. The font is Making the Grade, an oldy but a goody, which I think they are now retiring. Most of the pieces are from Locker Talk -crayons, glue, pencil, apple. The bus is from Doodlecharms and the "teacher" is from EDPD. They do not actually have a teacher on EDPD, but I used one of the professional girl outfits, and the hair from the nurse (I think) cause it looked like his teacher's hair, and a hair band from yet another person. I then stamped her face using Peachy Keen Stamps, and gave her cheeks with a little bit of chalk. I love how it turned out. It is so cute, and actually looks like Mme Thompson!

I created this using my Gypsy, which saved me a ton of time and paper. I have made some basic shapes on my Gypsy to "open as a template" when I am designing specific things. For example, I have a file calle 8 x 10 for frame. It is simply a rectangle from George, sized as an 8X10, I can then open it as a template to be sure the words are the right size and decide my layout etc.

I have found this really helpful when designing on my Gypsy. i have 12x12, 7x7 and 8x8 templates to design scrapbook pages with - Nothing is more frustrating than printing a title and discovering it won't fit! I also have 4x5 1/4, 5x5 and 6x6 templates to help me design cards.

The other Gypsy feature I used and LOVE is hide contour!! The pencil involves one base cut and then 4 of the same function cut in 4 different colors (eraser, metal band, wood tip and lead) I was able to hide everything except the eraser for the pink paper, everything except the lead for the black paper etc... saved tons of time and paper, not to mention space on my mat.

So Tuesday, Mme will get this as well as her card box. I hope she likes them :)

Emma's Throwback Challenge

So my effort to get back to my scrapbooking continues! Miss Emma, from My Creative Time (blinkie on right side of my blog) has a challenge each Thursday, which I decided to join this week. This very simple layout uses Zoobaloo. It was one of my first cartridges ever, and on I rarely use, despite the fact that I couldn't live without it :)

The paper is all from Close to my Heart. I love how their paper packs come with matching card stock. It makes my life so much easier! I like how this page turned out. And mostly how I saw it in my head. If you haven't visited Emma's site, you should. Her work is amazing and she is so helpful to new Gypsy users like me. Love her!!

Tomorrow I will post one of the cards I put in the card box for Andrew's teachers. Look at me posting so many days in a row!! I am proud of me :)

Momo's Spot Challenge

Momo has a challenge on her blog every other Tuesday. I have participated before, but never posted my project here. This week her Challenge was Spots and Dots. Dotted paper is one of my favorites. i seem to use it alot when i scrapbook. So here is my scrapbook page that is spotted and dotted...

The paper is from Close to my heart, and I loved how it tied in with the pool pictures. The Cricut cartridge used is Street Sign. I love the simple font. I then used a couple of my circle punches to fill up some of the blank space. On the whole, I am reasonably pleased, it turned out sort of how I envisioned... I am disturbingly far behind with my scrapbooking - it is truly daunting! These pics were taken when I was pregnant with my daughter - she is now almost 4 1/2 years old!! I am hoping that joining in on some challenges in the blogging world, will help me get my mojo back!
