Hello Kitty Party Week - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my Hello Kitty Party Week!! Today I have one of the party favors for you. I decided to make most of the favors. Many of the girl's have unusual names, and I thought they might like something personalized. I made them each a door hanger. i think they are so cute:

So I designed these on my Gypsy girl. The rectangle is from George and Basic Shapes. I then took a circle, and welded them together. Then I made another rectangle to shadow it, and welded the same circle in the same spot. I cut hello Kitty's face out of Heloo Kitty greetings, and cut each girl's name out of Don Juan - I haven't used this cartridge in so long, that I can't remember the last project I used it for! Once they were done, I decided they looked a bit naked, so I pulled out something I have NEVER used before - twine. I am in LOVE with how this finished up my project! I am going to have to use it again.

I made 11 of these. One for each of the girls at Gabrielle's party, and one for my work friend's niece. I can't believe I didn't take a picture of them all!! In the chaos of the party prep, I just didn't. Silly me! Oh well, at least I took a picture of one of them :)

Be sure to come back tomorrow - I will have TWO projects to share for Day 3.

A few challenges:
Whimsical Wednesdays - use something old (Don Juan cartridge)
Paper Pretties - ribbon/twine
Divas By Design - anything goes
Shelly's Images - tie it up (twine or ribbon)
Fabulous Fridays - ribbon or twine
Drunken Stampers - use something new (twine)
Craft Your Passion - anything goes with no patterned paper
Crafty Catz - pink and white
Craft Us Crazy - anything goes
Papertake Weekly - anything goes

More Subway Style Art

Last week I showed the plaque I made for my mum. Today I am showing the plaque I made for my baby sister. Leslie is a doctorate student all the way across the country in British Columbia. She is studying Ethno-musicology at UBC, and spends a lot of time in Indonesia studying Gamelan. She is hard to buy for, so I decided to make her this plaque to help decorate her apartment:

The blue is not what I envisioned, but on the whole I am really happy with it! It uses lots of cartridges: Baby Steps, George and Basic Shapes, Gypsy Font, Lyrical Letters, Opposites Attract, Quarter Note, Robotz and Storybook. I designed her on my Gypsy girl - couldn't live with out her. I cut out the vinyl and adhered it to another plaque from Walmart. It has lots of wonderful musical terms and I hope Les loves it, and thinks of me when she looks at it!

Thanks for stopping by today.

It's a New Year!

It's Monday!! That means it's Challenge day over at Paper Playtime :) It is a new year, which means there are new Queens and a King in the realm, along with all new challenges and exciting prizes to be had. Today we are sponsored by Peachy Keen Stamps, so our challenge is FACES! Use faces on your projects. Here is what I came up with:

This year I made a recipe book for my mum and sisters, with some of our favorite family recipes. This is the title page. The font is from Robotz (my go to chunky font), the other cuts are from Winter Wonderland, EDPD and From My Kitchen. I used stamps from PKS. Isn't it cute?

My next page feautures one of my Gran's cookie recipes. The gingerbread man is from Smiley Cards, the font, Don Juan and the shape is cut for Winter Wonderland.

The next, my favorite pickle recipe :) These are easy and delicious! The cucumber is from Just Because Cards cartridge, I think they look SO adorable with Peachy Keen stamp faces! The shape under the recipe is from Once Upon a Princess and the font is All Mixed Up.

My mum and sisters really liked their books, and honestly they are going to be a work in progress. I did 10 recipes for each of them, but I will continue making more over the next few months, and send it to them. they are also going to pick some of their favorite recipes, and I will for those recipes too.

I hope you all pop over to Paper Playtime and see what Team #1 has come up with to inspire you, and be sure to play along for your chance to win some Peachy Keen Stamps. Trust me, if you don't have some, you NEED them, and they have AMAZING customer service :)

You Rock!!

I spent a good part of yesterday, playing with the new Smiley Cards Cartridge, which is exclusive to the Gypsy. I made 3 cards with it, and it is too cute!! I will beposting one of the other ones later today, so be sure to check back :)

Today is challenge day over at Paper Playtime. The challenge is "You Rock" which you can interpret however you want. I saw the guitar on my Smiley Cards, and thought it was perfect!

Isn't that adorable? I wanted to make it really girlie, hence all the pink. The "you rock" is cut with Don Juan, at 1 inch. The paper is mostly a mix of SU and Creative Memories. The jewels do not look nearly so crooked in real life, but what can you do? The perfectionist in me is having issues, but I don't want to destroy my card...

I hope you all come over to Paper Playtime, and rock it out with us :)
